La compañía de seguridad Symantec ha alertado de la aparición de un peligroso gusano en Yahoo! Instant Messenger, que se propaga camuflado como la supuesta foto de un amigo.
En realidad, se trata de un 'truco' para descargar 'malware' que, entre otros daños, abre una puerta trasera en los ordenadores con sistema Windows y se autopropaga por los contactos de la cuenta infectada.
El gusano llega a través de un mensaje de un contacto con la palabra 'foto' o 'fotos' y un icono de cara sonriente, junto con un enlace a un sitio web se asemeja a una página de Facebook, MySpace, o páginas similares.
En Windows, el ejecutable se descargará y si el usuario ejecuta el archivo, el ordenador se infecta y el mensaje se distribuye a todos los contactos.Una vez ejecutado, el gusano se copia en %WinDir%infocard.exe, luego se suma a la lista de Firewall de Windows y detiene las actualizaciones de Windows, explica Symantec.
La compañía de seguridad ha advertido a los usuarios de Yahoo! Instant Messenger que tengan especial cuidado en abrir archivos o los enlaces, incluso de contactos conocidos.
Por su parte, Yahoo! ha reconocido el problema y ha recomendado fervientemente a los usuarios que no descarguen archivos ejecutables (. exe) que se envían a través de Yahoo! Messenger.
